On March 18 we received a sample bottle of ACIA in the mail. Next day we received a bottle of acne medication from IVP*ACNE MD. When I checked my unbilled credit card activity online I found 24 unauthorized charges over the course of six days. Most were $10 or less but a couple were 29.95 and 39.95. We cancelled our credit card immediately and are not liable for the charges. Goods from those 24 charges keep arriving daily. Most of the companies involved sound a bit shady, like dietary supplements, federal grant information, etc. One or two sound like legit businesses, e.G. Coffee clubs, and a couple sound like absolute scams. The companies from which something was ordered are: GrantHelpOrder.com, ECHARGECS.com, IVP*ACNE, AG Skin Care, Acia Burn, Grants V, www.fedgrantusa.com, Fusion Labs 2, BlogToolKit, The Grant Guide, WUYI, DRI, BOMC2, AP9, GRC, Gevalia, Vistaprint, and Photo Cubbie. We continue to get packages every day from these companies.
Our credit card number was obviously stolen somehow but I can't figure out the reasoning behind ordering a bunch of junk and having it sent to us. That alerted us to the fraud right away. I thought the usual fraud process was to make a low dollar value purchase to test the number then buy a bunch of high value items before the fraud was noticed.
We are calling the companies for which we can find phone numbers. Can't find the answer to the question of whether we are required to send the merchandise back or not. Does anyone know? I know you don't have to return unsolicited goods but as far as these companies are concerned they were ordered on a good credit card belonging to us and we received the packages. Do we just return them to the shippers (UPS, Fedex, USPS, so far) and try to refuse them. Shipping costs will probably exceed $100 for this pile of junk. We don't know if the credit card company pays them anyway or not but, if not, we worry that these companies, if any are legit, may somehow report us for not paying and negatively affect our credit standing.
