Grant research offers free product but doesnt warn about "free" trial offe

I was contacted by a rep from grant instructor. He offered me a package of info including cd's for the cost of shipping and handling only. This info was to be used in applying for a government grant. I agreed to this offer and gave him my credit card number to pay the charge. Later in the conversation the rep mentioned my "free trial offer". He never mentioned this prior to getting my credit card number. I asked him about it and he told me I would be charged a monthly fee of $68.95 for online services if i did not cancell within 7 days. I told him that I never agreed to this. He replied that is was only only a phone call to cancell.
