Problems with Vonage - vontage telephone service

I ordered Vonage more than two weeks ago. Their device took this long to get to me, but starting a week ago, customer service started calling me twice a day from Vonage to help me set it up. It got so I had to turn off the ringer on their number, they called me so often.

Installing their phone was simple, and it started right up, and identified its own number.

Calls were clipped. The first fraction of a second of each phrase was missing, making for a very hard conversation.

I adjusted bandwidth and this did not help.

I went to the web site, and I could not cancel. I had to do this by phone.

On the phone a sales rep gave me the hard sell on staying with them, and made me generous offers of tech support and additional free service. It took me under 10 minutes to reach that rep, but Vonage had already taken enough of my time, and I declined. I did not appreciate that I could not disconnect online.

Then I discovered a "disconnect fee" added to my bill; however, since I disconnected within their guarantee, all of this would be waived if I sent their device back. Naturally, I threw away their packaging, and could not send their device. Vonage cost me $ 70 for 5 telephone calls.

I feel that I was cleverly tricked in several ways - but mainly, Vonage simply has a clipping problem making it very annoying to listen to a call from a vonage phone.
