Scam

I accepted their magazine subscription cause it sounded like a good deal. I gave them all of my information and i made the stupid mistake of giving them my social security number also. I got a letter in the mail today and it says i have to pay 49.90 a month which is not what they told me over the phone. I called to try and cancel and they said i couldnt and that i made an obligation to pay for it? I dont know what to do and i really cant afford this stuff.
