Be careful of this company

Miscellaneous

I signed up for "Classmates" and found a charge of $19.95 being billed by PrivacyMatters123. Since I did not recognize the company I assumed it was an error and called the 877 number on the billling. I explained to the young lady that answered the phone I had not contracted with her company and was told that it was an automatic billing by "Classmates". I advised her to immediately cancel the account and I would pay the $19.95 as a lesson learned.

The following billing cycle occured and there was another charge for $19.95. Once again, I called the 877 number and talked to a representitive and asked if the records showed the account active. She advised that the account was cancelled and inactive, however, I still owed $19.95.

This prompted a request for a refund to cancel the balance and a call to my credid card company for the issuance of a new card.

This is the first time in my 70 years that I have been a victim of a scam and I just want to alert other seniors to be aware what can happen.

Lesson learned, thankfully for less $20.00.
