Regency research mystery shopping scam

I received a letter and a check in the amount of $3990.00 to particiapte in a consumer research program part time. I was instructed on how to utilize the money and that I would be trained. A red flag went off because I couldn't remember that I applied for this position. The letter was unprofessional and had errors. Why would a company send a check to me without getting any personal information. No part time position pays $400.00 and then $500 dollars after training for two simple assignments. When it sounds to good to be true it is. I went onto google and typed in Regency Research and saw a few links about the company and then I saw complaint saw an article with the same circumstances as I had. I knew then it was a scam and happy that I was wise enough to investigate before depositing a check in my bank account.
So be careful and investigate anything and everything you receive in the mail that sounds to good to be true; usually it isn't true. There are many scam artist out trying to make a fast buck don't be a victim. I am so happy I did my research.
