Miscellaneous

I am a skeptic looking for jobs, and I am glad that I was skeptical of this "job opportunity." I looked up the name on usacomplaints.com and found some bad reports. Still, I went ahead and let him speak for himself. He did a poor job of it, both grammatically and in actually addressing the question I asked. Plus, he had the gall to lie and say that my information on Dater Card was incorrect. He never addressed the concerns I sent via email and instead just said that I was wrong. I hope this report will help fellow job-seekers who don't want to waste their time.

His response was similar to ones I received from MLMs aka pyramid schemes, so I replied for clarification.

Nick,

My two preferred times would be Wednesday at 12 and Thursday at 1.

My only question is if there is any up-front cost associated with working for you, as similar responses to my resume tend to be from MLM marketing companies rather than companies willing to offer traditional jobs and pay. No offense, but I just want to make sure before I book the time slot, as I don't want to waste your time.

Regards,
Heina

Nick,
I attempted to call but it went to voicemail. I still do not have an answer to my question from my previous email:

Again, to reiterate, I do not want to waste your time or mine, so please, could I have an answer to my question?

Thank you very much,
Heina

Again, no simple answer to a simple question.

Nick,

As I am sure you know, being upfront about pay structure is a normal part of legitimate business hiring practice. As such, I will not be interviewing tomorrow unless it is explained to me openly and honestly. Thank you very much for your reply.

Heina

Nick,
I am not looking for information, I am looking for a simple answer: do you pay hourly? On commission? Or what? That will take about 5 minutes of your time and will save you plenty of time in terms of not interviewing me if I'm not interested.

If you had actually read my resume, you would know that I am a broke college student, not a competitor out to get "there" hands on your information. You could have called me to verify, or, better yet, returned my calls.

Again, being upfront about pay structure is a normal part of legitimate business hiring practice. Please waste your time on the more gullible. I will certainly be reporting you and alerting others.

Have a nice day.

I told him I didn't want an interview, right? Still, he replies, but doesn't answer the simple, clear question with an honest answer.

Why would a competitor want to know what the pay structure is? How would that benefit anyone? You continually demonstrate your lack of professionalism by failing to address my simple question. I am not looking for information, I am looking for a simple answer: do you pay hourly? On commission? Or what? Companies pay, and real, legitimate ones will tell you how you'll be getting paid prior to an interview. It's called legitimate business practice. You continue to not answer my simple question.

By the way, I did some research and have found that you used to be known as Dater Card. If Dater Card launched only in April why would you launch something so similar so soon, something that is basically the same product?

He gets all defensive:

Have a great day and when looking for a job it is not appropriate business practice to verbally berate a potential employer. We are no longer interested in bringing you in for an interview and wish you the best. Your facts are in correct as well. Please do not reply back to this email. We are very busy...

Thanks,
Nick

I told him that I didn't want an interview anyway several emails ago. If he actually read my emails he might have, you know, realized that. I did not verbally berate him, I only called him out on his lack of comprehension and asked him for clarification, and that was only after he wasn't a potential employer for me. This might be a legitimate business, for all I know, but Nick is certainly very afraid to disclose something all legitimate businesses disclose to their employees: what the pay will be. That way, no one's time is wasted in fruitless and pointless interviews.

I am definitely "in correct" — that is, I am in the correct state of knowledge. He himself replied to the complaints on Dater Card with his full name and all information. If I'm "in correct, " then he is, too, because he is the one who defended Dater Card with such passion. Notice that Dater Card's information is the same as Happy Hour Card.

I am glad that I am skeptical and did not waste my time with a company that would not tell me anything as simple as what I'd be paid for working from them. Maybe the cards are real, maybe they aren't, but not being upfront about pay and not answering simple questions is a sure sign of an unprofessional employer. Why would he be dishonest about Dater Card if it's as wonderful as his rebuttals claim, and why wouldn't he just tell me "it's commission" or "it's hourly" — how hard would that be, and how would a potential competitor benefit from knowing that? Logically, it makes no sense. I feel sorry for the people who will be at the "interviews" this week, and hope that this report might reach at least one of them.
