Telemarketing for the blind and handicapped

Lifeline Industries is a ripoff. I worked there part-time as a telemarketer. When I was hired the company informed me that the products that they sold for charity was actually made by the handicapped and blind in it's facility in Mobile Alabama. The company advises it's employees that potential customers need to know that when they purchase something that it is going to benefit handicapped and blind worker.

After several days of working with the company I started getting suspicious of whether the products were in fact made by handicapped and blind workers. During break I found myself looking at some of the products and notices that the products were made in China. During my employment I also noticed that some of the employees was falsely telling customers over the phone that they were blind and they would be have a stable job if the caller made a purchase. No credit card was required to purchase the products. All products were shipped out and the customer was advised that they would receive a bill later. The few weeks that I was there, I notice that customers called in irrate because they were billed $60. Xx for light bulbs and $50. Xx for T-Shirts.

I just want to let others know in advance that if they get a call from a telemarketer informing them that their money would benefit the blind and handicapped, be cautious. Many of the callers making the calls are not blind or handicapped. Actually, there was only about two people that I worked with that was handicapped. Many lied and stated that they were blind and handicapped. However, there were some that did not say that they were blind or handicapped, but that the money would benefit the blind and handicapped in Alabama which I don't believe is true.
