Meridian Financial
Lottery winning, $4500 check enclosed

Miscellaneous

I received a very authentic looking check for $4,500 explaining that I had won a lottery (second category). All I needed to do was cash the check and send part of it to cover the taxes in Canada. I was to call the number in the letter to get directions on how to receive the rest of my winnings. I checked on the web and found the scam listed on your website. Thanks for saving me any hassle. I have to admit they almost got me as the check had no markings on it or otherwise reasons to doubt it. The bank listed was Communications FCU.
