Wal-Mart
No product support for their own product

Miscellaneous

I purchased a Durabrand model PDV-709 DVD player from Wal-mart on December 2d.in November I noticed that the battery would not charge.

I called the phone number listed in the manual, but the phone had been disconnected. I also visited the listed web site with the same result.

By the time I had discussed the problem with the local Wal-Mart store without any positive results, I notified the main office in Arkansas, and was
advised that an answer would be received soon.

By the time the answer came, which said to contact the local store, the warranty had expired. I went back to the local store and was told the warranty had expired.

I have made sereral attempts to acquire the battery this past year without any positive results.

Further investigation indicated that the DVD had been assembled by Lenoxx for Wal-Mart, and had closed its assemly plant at least a year ago, which made me feel quite disguested when I saw the same DVD for sale as late as today in the local store.

The battery was made in China as one would might guess, and there appears to be absoutely zero support for the entire product.

It has been my understanding for years, although maybe incorrect, that the Federal Law required manufacturers of products to supply parts for 10 years after they cease production.

I would be willing to join a class action suit against Wal-Mart on this matter since I have observed numerous complaints almost identical to my own on the lack of support from Wal-Mart as long as it doesn't cost me anything.

I think that learning never to buy an off brand product, or one that is made for Wal-Mart is probably payment enough. It is a shame because the DVD seems to operate perfectly except their is no internal battery power.

It can't be stated with any accuracy that Wal-Mart was unaware of the problem because most of my information came from Wal-Mart employees.

The DVD only cost me aproximately $100.00, and I shall not miss it, but what about the principal of the matter, and those customers that can't afford to be "Ripped Off". I would suggest paying a few more dollars and get a name brand electrical, or any product from Wal-Mart.
