Royal Burgundy International
Company sold us lots of coffee and a dream turned nightmare

Miscellaneous

One day, looking in my local newspaper for business opportunities, I came across an add for someone selling their distributorship in an established coffee supplier. When I called the number provided, I spoke with one of the representatives at Royal Burgundy. Bill Porter told me that the person mentioned in the add was selling his business in my area for 50k. He went on to advise me that if I dealt directly with RBI, I could purchase a business with a net profit of approximately 42k. I decided that the 17.5k version was right for me. He sent me samples which were very good. I then called him back and he sent me a packet describing their business plan for me. Everything LOOKED very legitimate. I asked him for and was given the numbers of two "distributors" who told me that the company did everything they said and more. I found it strange that RBI would not accept a credit card for the product, but provided them with a cashier's check. I was then introduced to Evans Consulting who told me they would set up my accounts. The locator, a guy named Joe Horton, from Florida (or so he claimed), finally met with my wife and I at our house. We told him where he should concentrate his efforts and he left. The locations that he provided were located exactly where we told him not to go, so we complained to David Evans. He basically laughed at us and told us to go ahead and report him to the company. We thought "we can still fix this" and set out to evaluate and change locations on our own. Some of the locations that were provide were so bad that there were gang signs on the exterior of the gas stations and the surrounding houses were boarded up. We replaced the worst of the locations with some that we had acquired and moved on. Every time I called the company I would speak with Bill Porter or Gordon Byron. Everybody was upbeat about my prospects and the ability of the company to provide great product and service.

One day I called and got an answering machine. I left a message for Gordon to call me back, but he did not. For the next several days I called and left messages. Finally I called and the message had been changed to one reflecting future business and successful fulfillment of my order. My wife decided to check out the Florida Sec of State and found that RBI filled papers of dissolution on Nov 11th. I am very interested in joining into a class action suit with anyone who has decided to go that route. The people involved with Royal Burgundy Int'l defrauded me to the tune of $17,500 and it looks as though they did the same to numerous other people. I believe they should be held accountable and have filed a complaint with the Florida D.A. I urge everyone who had similar experience to do the same. These people are out living on our money and need to be dealt with.
