Free holiday for 4 people scam

This company tried to call my partner sevral times over 3 days when they finally got in touch they told her she had won a holiday for 4 persons to florida through a web site competition, they sounded very convincing and joked with my partner who was very sceptical about this and as soon as credit card was mention i told her to hang up, they called back within 2 minutes assuring her this was not a hoax or scam she then gave them my credit card details but i knew my card had been cancelled they than told her the card had been declined and asked for another credit card when she told them she had no other credit card they hung up.
