Took me for $956.40 Claimed to be collecting a debt that I did owe I was conned out of my money

I received phone calls at my work from a Ms. Carter claiming to be from McKelvey Law Offices attempting to collect a debt that I owed. I told her to not call me while I was at work. She threatened that she could garnish my wages and blah blah blah. I know for a fact that they cannont. She had all my info and she was telling me everything that was on my credit. Well, a few weeks went by and she called again, claiming to not be the same person. Now, I have worked for a Law firm that collected debt so I thought that they were ligitimate. I went ahead and set up payment arrangements to settle my credit card debt. 6 payments were auto drafted from my account. My statements clearly state Mckelyvey Collections. I was told that I would receive a letter within thirty days from the final payment and my credit report would be updated.

That was in April. It is now October. I have not received anything.instead I received a phone call from a one Ms. Carter from, wait, Vincent Cignarale Law Offices in an attempt to collect the same debt, stating that I still owe some $400.00. This is the same debt that I supposedly settled for $956.40. When I got her on the phone I told her that this debt was settled and YOU were suppose to send me a letter. She state that "this is Cignarale Law Offices" My response was " Oh so I am dealing with two different Ms. Carter's" Her words, "no".

At this point I am upset and pissed. I then looked up both Law Offices on the internet and what do I find, complaint after complaint, fraud, bankruptcy. Now I am in a panic. I just forked out $956.40 thinking I am doing good by paying off my bad debt.

I atempted to contact Mckelvey, had the number, ext, confirmation number, everything. Not in service, call this number. I call that number and I am connected to a voice mail of an Amy Oatmeyer, please leave your social and message do to heavy call volume. I called this number several times. I then decided to contact the credit card company that I owed money to. They have no record of me paying my debt. I asked who they sold my account to. They stated NCO Financial. I call them, they have no record of me.

I went to my bank to file a complaint for fraud. I want to know where my money went. I will do everything in my power to either get my money back or it be applied to my debt.

This is an outrage that these slimey law firms prey on those who are honestly trying to get there life back together. I will no longer pay any past due debt to any party other than the party I owe the money two.

I contacted the American Bar Association and I am in the process of a formal complaint. If anyone know of any other avenues I can take on this issue, Please Help!
