Miscellaneous

I received an email about working from home. I spoke to a woman that explained to me that all I had to do on the entry level was distribute cards that offered health discounts. The cards had referral codes on them so I would not have to an application or call the company in order to get paid. I thought this sounded good. She then instructed me to pick a time that was convenient for me to do a conference (audio benefits presentation) call to a 800#. I picked a time for the next day. I am a licensed insurance agent and thought that if I can make a few bucks selling a discount plan to people who can't afford health insurance then - why not? But that night, I started doing research on the company and found nothing. I emailed the lady. Keep in mind that the name of the company in the email was ASP. I asked her if the company had a PARENT COMPANY. She said that they changed the name to ASI on the 1st of August. I told her that I did not find the company on the BBB website. She said that the company stands for Affordable Service Providers (I found nothing!) and that ASI stands for Affordable Service Inc. And is listed under the BBB. On the website that she gave me in her email it has a BBB online partner logo, which is very misleading (you can't click on it). Needless to say, I never got a reply from her when I asked her for clarification. So if I was an idiot and did not check this out, I could have been ripped off.
