Honda Manufacturing Of Alabama
The truth comes at a price

Miscellaneous

I worked for Honda and during my career there, I was placed in a job working with hazardious materials and was not informed of how dangerious the job was. I had no hasmat training until I was in the job for 8 months. I was transfered to the 2nd plant, set up the paint mix room for Plant 2 and trained 2 men for the job so there would be enough associates for shift change. During this time I was being sexually harrassed by my supervisor and when I reported it, I was treated like a criminal. Then the same day the paint mix room I set up was sabatoged after I left work and turned into a safety hazard with spill rags left on the floor, flamable cabinet doors left open, paint spills ect. Then safety was called in.

The head of safety knew I didnt leave the room in that condition, he had checked it many times before and knew I always left the room in a clean safe condition. The safety manager was sure that my manager did this but could not say anything in fear of loosing his job (The head of safety told me he knew I was innocent of these charges.) After this I was moved to a job on the line and this is when I realized that management did not want a woman in the paint mix job in Plant 2. The manager was not repramanded for his behavior and my witnesses could not tell the truth because of threats of loosing their own jobs.

During this process I was also doing my managers job and told upper Management and Associate relations of this and that the truth would surface. About 4 weeks of time passed and my manager put in his resignation and was escorted to the door immediately. I was told later that he stole Honda documents and presented them as his own at another auto manufacturing company. After all this, I was sure upper management knew that I had been telling the truth all along but nothing was ever said.

I was later injured in a motorcycle accident and could not work because of a broken collar bone. I was out of work for about 9 months then returned only to re-injure myself on the line at work so I was out again and none of this was workmans-comp. I returned to work again after several months of being out and then the same thing happened again, I re-injured myself and was out of work again on long term disability waiting on a check and did not recieve any money for 3 months and not until I was fired and was told the reason was because the company that handels the Leave paper work did not recieve mine and that is not true because the Doctor office faxed it 3 times upon my request and I also sent it as well and called regularly.

I just felt that it was strange that they did not recieve the paper work when there was no problem in them recieving my paper work all the times before. I did not file an appeal because at the time I was so frustrated at how this company with all of its false promises had treated me. Now I am just filled with resentment on how this company can get away with how it treats it employees. We were only a Number.
