My mother called a number she saw on TV for Green Bags. She only intended to order one set.

It was an automated number, and evidently kept adding on things. When the box came, there were multiple sets of bags & 8 cutters included. No invoice.

I checked my credit card account and found they had charged $188, $73 of which was shipping. I called the number on the credit card statement - and have been calling every few days for weeks now.

They told me to return the box, which I did, and called weekly to see when it was received.

Finally they said it had been received, and a replacement had been ordered. I told them to cancel that immediately, which they agreed they had done.

They said they couldn't refund the shipping (!), but agreed to refund the purchase price, and upon being pressed, said they would refund half the shipping since I pleaded a hardship case.

I waited — the half shipping was refunded, but nothing more. I've called again - and again - and again - and again. It's a different story every time.

Either they can't refund the purchase price as long as the replacement set is out (!), or, When I push, they say they have to talk to the supervisor — but the supervisor is always busy and of course never returns the call.

I have now spent many hours trying to get this money refunded. I am weary of the battle — but it's too much money to just let go.

They did tell me they are not part of the official Debbie Meyer Green Bags — they are All Star Products. The line on the credit statement reads GPM* green bags 866-3893630 NY. When I did a reverse phone lookup, it brings up several different names.

Do we have any recourse? Isn't this illegal?
I am battle weary...
