I had just pulled into the Pilot Travel Center in Perryville, MD., located on I-95 exit 93. Two men in a white van were trying to sell stereo speakers out of a white van. Another truck driver tried to buy speakers from these two men with a personal check, but they refused the sale (this information is based on what one of these con men said to me). I paid these two $800 for a pair of Olen Ross OR703 speakers and an Olen Ross OR6050 home theater system.

I've been scammed before on a Rolex-like wristwatch, and later another guy tried to sell me a Tag-Heur watch, which I didn't buy. I only lost about $100 on this. This is minor by comparison.

I drive a truck for a living. I'm approached all the time in truck stops by people selling all sorts of things: DVDs of movies still in theaters, porn DVDs, wristwatches, hats, pillows bearing cartoon characters, etc. Usually, the quality is acceptable on what I choose to buy.

I didn't know about this scam!!! Now I'm alert and active. I had some money in savings to cover emergencies that is now gone. I can only hope to stop these scammers in the future and help other truck drivers keep their money for their use.
