Bait and switch

I just got off the phone with the customer service managers at this company after discovering that my interest rate had been raised from 8% to 34.99% in less than one year.

I was told at first that a number of factors would go into it being raised. NONE of this were what happened in my case so finally he told me it was because of the economy!

I asked if they were still offering a low interest rate for new customers and he said yes but that my account was not eligible for a lower rate. When I asked what would make me eligible, he said that when I am eligible I would be contacted. Can we say NEVER??? I have now drafted letters to the customer service and cc'd BBB and Attorney General of UT. I really don't think it will do any good because I am sure they are just this side of being legal.

I was also told that I was sent 2 letters to inform me of the increased rates. I never got any such letters. Who in their right mind would agree to 34.99%?

I also told them that I would tell anyone who would listen about what kind of company they are and I would get a card with their competitor and transfer my balance. That way they will get 0% interest from me.

I would love to see something done to this company. If anyone is planning something, count me in
