One day I walk in to an Aldi store, just shopping around and I see this sign, Job fair that would happen at the end of the week. They had positions posted as cashiers, and to dressed to impress. I was going to be laid off in a couple of weeks, so I decided to go.
I dressed professionally, and went off to this fair. I get there and to my surprise I see so many people dressed in jeans and t-shirts. We had to stand in line while 2 women, assuming they were HR said next and right there in the open had our interview. (That was not the problem) My problem was I filled out my application stated that I was interviewing for the cashier position.
Without looking my resume, and just looking at me told me I wasn't physically capable to handle the job. (I'm 150lb) I have no physical deformities. I worked in as a warehouse receiving supervisor, on a tree crew, and a merchandise specialist in a shoe store.
As I was dismissed and walk out the store to my not so surprise I was approached by 2 other ladies that had the same experience. We talk about the ordeal and just wonder how looking a someone without talking to them be a job interview. Never shopping there again.
