The predator moving company/rip off artists

I went on www.getamover.com and recieved a quote from Brian Richardson with Federal Moving Van Lines on May 9. My Final quote was for $1482.00 for my move from Upstate New York to Florida. I was advised that in order to lock in my price I needed to give a deposit of $297.00 to secure my move date and assure that my cost would not rise.

I gave Brian a deposit over the phone and he took upon himself to take $370.00 out of my account without me authorizing the additional funds and without even contacting me. This was my first long distance move and I did notify Brian of my displeasure and basically that I did not authorize him for 370.00 just the 297.00 deposit and he then advised he would refund me the difference.

Well I did recieve a refund of 37.00 but it was suppose to be for 73.00. I was to move on 6/28/08 and he had set me up with Louis Van Lines and all the time I was in very close contact with him. I also went with him because I was also under the impression that he was affiliated with Mayflower.

Earlier that week before my move I was contacting Brian and advising him that I needed to know an approximate window of time of when the movers would be arriving because I had to do some running around. He gave me a phone# to Louis Van Lines for an Orfa Royale of which I left several messages.

On morning of 6/27/08 I contacted Brian and advised I still did not hear from anyone yet and I needed that time and he advised me not to worry that he actually had heard from her that morning and that they were in route to NY and that they would contact me when they got in the area.

Later, that afternoon I contacted Louis Van Lines myself because I was just beginning to feel like he was giving me lip service and was advised by Orfa that Brian never sent her the order and I was not schedulded on any truck. I said well you have my money and she advised no I do not Brian does.

I then contacted Brian and he said I just found out and I am really sorry I am working on getting you with another company something like this has never happened before but it;s not uncommon. I was then contacted by a company called A&E Moving who advised that they had a driver in Lake George, NY and that he could right to me but his cost was 2200.00 and I had to pay 1100.00 when they picked up my stuff.

I went with this company because I really had no choice I had no time but before I went with this other company I spoke to Brian and notified him of the difference in cost and he told me to go ahead and go with it that the money I paid him would either be put back into my account or paid directly to the new company.

I did ask him about the difference in price and he said that it wouldn't be a problem he would just submit to the accounting dept and given the circumstance they would absorb that cost. Well nothing has happened and I also too did find out that Brian's phone number is registered to a grocery store in NY but he claims that his eoffice is in North Carolina.

I have asked him for the Owner or Owner's names of the company and he told me there are a couple but one of them is named James when I asked for the last name he told me he didn't know. He also hangs up on me when I call and tells me he is working on it and doing everything he can.

I have filed a complaint with the better business bureau and personally feel that this Brian person should be held accountable and needs to be stopped by the proper authorities for his fraudelant behavior and someone needs to find out who and where he is and his website should be taken off or blocked from the internet. He is ripping people off and I happen to still be sitting on the floor and still don't have my things. When I read Jodi's story I felt like it was my own. BEWARE!!!
