Sign a Tenant Lease, Landlord Pulls Out and Now Harasses Me over Bounced Check

Back on 7/8, I had signed a lease to lease a Room within the harrasser's townhouse in Northern VA; upon which time I had written a check for $550 as first month's rent and was given a key to his home and permission to begin moving my belonging into his home. As soon as I had moved some of my belongings into his home, morning of 7/11, harasser contacted me to say that his girlfriend's acquaintenance had already given his girlfriend a deposit and had signed the lease with the girlfriend and was asked to move out my belongings and was given a check for a refund of the deposit.

Morning of Thursday, 7/17, my boss, Mr. Yi, and my co-worker, Stephanie, informed me that the Harasser contacted them (not me) to inform them that my check had bounced and my account was closed. Even though I had telephoned and sent him a letter of apology and letting him know that I will replace the funds and to not make any further contact with my employer or my co-worker, Harasser has continually harassed me via making inflamatory comments to my boss and co-worker and through them has threatened to contact Police if I did not give him the funds IN FULL.
