My franchise owner was late paying my my first pay cheque, he would constantly say he wold drop it off but never would, when he did eventually pay me it was the wrong amount and was without payroll information.

I quit two weeks later and expected all outstanding fees to be paid within 15 days as the law states. My franchise owner delayed constantly, missing appointments and not answering my calls. As he lives only two blocks away from me I went to his house to pick up the check myself and brought along a copy of the labor laws of my state.

He said he still couldn't pay me the full amount and that he would drop of the rest at my house within a few days. He didn't. A week later when he dropped off the check I cashed it and today it was returned to me by my bank because he had insufficient funds.

I called the head office and they told me the most they can do is file a report. They offer no protection for cheated employees and will do nothing but file a report.

Tomorrow I am supposed to receive a new check, I doubt however that this will actually happen. If this is the case I intend to file a report and report him to the ministry of labor.
