Pam Levy offered me a "franchise" of Check Up Magazine in NW Calgary

Pam Levy of Check up Magazine offered us a franchise in NW Calgary, Alberta for $50,000 with the explicit promise to refund the money should the venture not work (certified by an Alberta Commissioner of Oaths). After extensive efforts over a period of 6 months it turned out that the publication of a separate NW Calgary Check Up Magazine was not a viable business, in part due to the potential advertisers' reluctance to deal with Pam Levy. Subsequently I tried to get the promised money back, but of the $50,000 I managed to retrieve $550 and a number of bounced cheques. I went for legal advice, only to find out that Pam Levy had a number of outstanding court orders and it would be highly unlikely for me to retrieve the outstanding balance after all these cases were dealt with. Pam Levy kept assuring me that the full amount was going to be refunded and supplied postdated cheques to the lawyer. However, none of these could be cashed, due to lack of funds. I therefore conclude that Pam Levy is running a scam operation and would like to warn everyone who is thinking to deal with her and Check Up Magazine should think twice. This person is morally (and probably close to being financially) bankrupt.
