Equitable Acceptance Corporation
Free Honeymoon, New Cookware! Not likely!

Miscellaneous

I, like the other person on this site, had been fooled into believing this company was worth my investment. Their experience completely mirrored mine, with a few added twists! After my "lifetime guarantee" pans broke within 2 weeks, I was refused new cookware like promised. Additionally, when I refused to pay for such faulty equipment, I was informed that the original loan amount was approved for $50,000. When my husband and I tried to get approved for our first home, we were declined and it was only then that this little tidbit was brought to my attention. So, in the eyes of creditors, it seemed as though I was being negligent on a mortgage because of the extreme amount.in order to completely wipe the slate clean of these monsters at Equitable Acceptance, we took $1500 that we could have desperately used and paid the entire remaining balance to the thieves. Even though we had paid and the amount had cleared our bank account, they refused to send me a letter stating the account was at zero. A month later I received a letter stating that we still owed $100! As with mutliple times before, they had incorrectly debited my husbands account (which we never use for billing). Their argument was that the final amount they told us to pay was not including this $100 that was in the process of clearing my husbands account. My argument still is, we had no knowledge of any pending payment at the time, and even if we had known... If it would have been correctly debited from our JOINT BANK ACCOUNT, this would have never happened. Nevermind the fact that we have paid over $100 in overdraft fees for each of their screwups, now they were saying we owed them more money too! This is where I took my fight to the Better Business Bureau. After speaking together, EA contacted me and said they would work out an arrangement of a set amount of money that needed to be paid. We had a tape recorded conversation with the woman saying, "We will waive all processing and returned check fees in accordance with this agreement." Lo and behold, 2 weeks later as I sat and balanced my checkbook, I found an unspecified amount of money that was debited from no other than Equitable Acceptance of a higher amount than I had confirmed on the phone. This people are liars and theives. What they are doing is wrong and I do not understand how they can get away with it. My husband and I thought we would start our new married lives off on the right foot. We knew we probably wouldn't be able to afford a honeymoon, so we felt like for once, luck was on our side. We were excited about starting off buying our first set of pans together for when we were married. Now, we sit in our rented apartment with no pans, poor credit, and a unsettling feeling knowing that this company has illegally debited our accounts for incorrect amounts of money. If there is anyone that can help us, please contact me. For those that have gone through the heartache this company can cause, please take solace in knowing that at least you are not alone!
