Misrepresentation while preying on the innocent

I received an email where I was told I would receive a $1000 shopping spree. I must admit that at first I thought it was from Publishers Clearing House as that is what I interpreted from the communications. I was told that I needed to buy a magazine membership and could cancel at any time. I was also told that they needed my account information so they could deduct the monthly payments of about $70 for three months, to begin after the first three weeks of trial to the website (on the shopping).

Much to my dismay, they took the money immediately out of my account. I contacted them right away where they stated they would cancel my membership.

I then get a letter telling me that I cancelled after the time allowed. Thank god I had proof of the day I signed up and the day I cancelled and it WAS within the 10 days allowed. I had to call back and demand to speak to a manager.

It took almost two weeks to get the money credited to my checking account but it was there so I thought the problem was over... WRONG!

Two years later I get a letter from them stating that I owe them a $138 cancellation fee plus additional fees. They even have the audasity to threaten me with attorneys and that it will become very costly to me!

What the hell is going on with this company when they have false misrepresent themselves as a reputable company, then try to screw you out of cancelling and then when they think you forgot about them they screw your credit history!

We need to take action of fraudulant companies such as these.
