Inc. "collecting For "Contel Of The South, gte. Contel, verizon billed 144.05 for aphone#I never had... Contel of the south is verizon who I have and donot owe

In April sent bill from Afni Inc collection 144.05 owed to Contel of the South called and explained I've had the same phone # for 16 years and the one they were billing me for was not and has never been my number. Now in June I get another bill for the same thing again I called spoke with Tyrone who very rudly told me yes thats what I had said a year ago so why was I calling again the account was to stay open untill payed, due to his rudness I went to look up Contel of the south and get a # as to deal directly with them. All I could find was the historical lineage and logos for cts which is ;in virginia GTE to Contel who merged with Contel of the south to become Verizon to whom I do not owe any thing (I called to check) and they know nothing of this Contel of the south bill... So why is it that I am being billed for somthing I never had by a company that no longer exists you can draw your own conclutions I am feeling fraud, scam, RIP OFF!!!
