Myrtle Creek Oregon Police Department
Out of their jurisdiction and harrassing motorists

Recently, the Myrtle Creek Police have acquired new patrol cars. Apparently they're a bit stapped paying for them. So in the past 6 weeks, I have observed them patrolling streets in excess of one mile beyond the city limits and outside their jurisdiction. I guess they are not satisfied they annexed the pavement about 2 miles outside standard limits on highway 99 so they could write tickets there. 10 feet off the pavement though, it's county jurisdiction.

They make a good example of why people have lost respect for police. If the police end up breaking the laws and acting like Nazi's those that they are supposedly are protecting us from look like the better side.

I bet a dollar to a donut that they will have the excuse that the county has requested their patrol though. And that won't fly because you can be certain the county isn't paying them other letting them have the ticket proceeds that is.

I have lived many places where there was really good law enforcement and honest and dedicated officers. Unfortunately, Myrtle Creek and Douglas County Oregon don't. The real kicker though. There is a covert verbal agreement between all attorneys practicing in Douglas County not to accept cases against the county as well as some of its muncipalities. They really need to post signs at county entry points stating, "Your rights as an American Citizen end here!"
