Craigslist Pop Up Camper Scam Las Vegas

Miscellaneous

When things seem too good to be true, they usually are too good to be true. I noticed an ad for a pop up camper on Craigslist in Las Vegas. I contacted the seller by e-mail and they stated that they were in Canada because of a family emergency.

They then said the transaction could take place via iSold it.

They told me the camper was in an iSoldit warehouse.

They then sent an invoice that appeared to come from iSoldit. However on closer inspection, the address given had some odd dashes in it.

Also, the seller wanted payment in the form of a Moneygram. The copied iSold it message was official looking, but the Moneygram thing screamed fraud! I then googled "iSold it scam" and was directed to a blog by the CEO of the real iSold it. There I saw examples of this scheme by a person going by the same and no doubt fake name of Paul W.

Red Flags:
Price was below the current market price by around $1,000.

Person selling item was away on family business or vacation and had to do transaction through third party.
Seller requested payment by Moneygram instead of other methods.

ISold it location had no mention of product on local website from where the camper would have been put on consignment.

Be careful out there.
