Privacy Matters
Fraud, fraud, fraud!

Miscellaneous

Privacy Matters somehow got a hold of my account number for my Sears Gold Master Card and charged 29.95 THREE times in ONE day. Not to mention the 1.00 monthly fee.

While attempting to locate the person who authorized this initial transaction, Sears seems just as confused as I was!

When I contacted Privacy Matters tonight, I initially spoke with a lady named Cloe who did not sound professional at all! When I gave her the account number, which THEY had assigned me, she immediately transferred me to a supervisor who identified himself as Lou, (id #26181).

Lou immediately asked for the number of the credit card which had been charged so that he could locate the unauthorized fees. I refused and asked why he couldn't locate the file by using THEIR account number? He claimed that it was possibly due to my name not being spelled correctly... How hard is it to spell Michelle???

Lou informed me that he was unable to proceed with any further questions due to my having filed an earlier complaint with the Fraud Department for Sears. I then asked him generally, how do they receive authorization to use an account? He responded, "by internet". I informed him that I have never heard of his company and apparently the charges had been initiated by someone who obtained my credit card number. He once again refused to speak any further.

Upon further examination, I noticed that the account number that they had assigned me, includes the same first 8 numbers of my credit card... Coinsidence??? I don't think so!

My case is currently under review through Sears. My advice: be aware and monitor all activity on your credit cards DAILY!!! By the way, Lou sounds just like most, from a different Country!
