Adoption Counsler Thinks She Has a Degree in psycology

In early March my family and I went down to the womens humane society to look for a saint bernard for my son who possibly has ADHD. Every site on the internet about ADHD says the best therapy dogs are Saints or Newfoundlands.

The shelter had a 140lb Saint that we were interested in. He was raised in a day care and loved kids. My children are young (5 and 4) and they have never seen a dog this big before. So when it came time to see the dog we were shoved in a tiny room and the dog was shoved in right after us. Of course my kids got a little scared and within 30 seconds the counsler says that we can't have the dog because my kids stood up on their chairs and were wimpering. I'm 24 yrs old 6'2" and 180lbs and the way they interduced this dog got me a little nervous.

I pleaded with the lady but she was persistant. I told her that my son may have ADHD and she went into wannabe doctor mode. ADHD stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorter. Just means he is extreamly hyper and has a short attention span. She said that ADHD is an emotional disorder and that with it he couldn't control any of his emotions and that it is more of a reason that we couldn't have the dog.

If you want to adopt from them please take this report into consideration. I drove 49 miles each way with gas at $3.25/gal in a Jeep Grand Cherokee so do the math. Money Lost, Time Lost, and Kids very upset the whole way back.
