Tried to scam me but didn't get far enough due to scam report found on internet Saskatchewan

I didn't get far enough to get ripped due to someone filing a report and found information about them. The person i talked to told me that i wouldn't have to sign up for anything or isn't a scam and i asked her about the check and she told me it wasn't and if i wanted to make sure about the check not to be a fake is to call up the number where the check is coming from. She also wanted me to tell her to ask my bank when the check would be cleared after cashing it.
