I was looking for a way to help my daughter and her family get into a first-time buyer house. This company, Grant Consultant, sent me an e-mail, saying FREE government grants, etc.

When they sent me a letter, it said they would be sending me a CD and that I had access to their web site. They said, "You have 14 days free to our website, then if you do nothing, we will charge your account $49.00.

We never were able to get on the website using what they told me to use as a password, which was our zip code. The CD arrived but it was a bunch of marketing and didn't give any specifice directions how to file, just get on the web site.

I cancelled by computer, and they charged my account $49.00. If they charge my account again, I will have little recourse other than to close out the account and start another one, which is a big hassle (changing debit card and checks, etc.).

I am disabled on a fixed income that leaves us usually $200-300 short each month, for which I have to scrape, borrow, and try to get part time work.
$49.00 is no small amount when you spend hours saving and crushing aluminum cans over the weeks and turn them in for $17.00.

I want that money back because they were selling nothing and had no right to access my account "if I did nothing."

There seem to be many of these programs that claim to help you get lots of federal money for grants that just needs someone to know how to write the grant. I know professional grant writers who have a hard time and work a long time to get a grant.

If they refuse to give my money back, I will report them to the attorney general of Nevada and of my state, and may file suit by a long arm statute or small claims court in Nevada or wherever I can.

I do not like giving my bank access number to have it treated carte blanche.
