Premier Readers
Scamed, entangled, mislead, decieved, "hoodwinked", bribed, lied. Marietta, Georgia

Miscellaneous

The company "premier readers" based in Marietta, Georgia got ahold of my contact information as well as some of my banking information online from unknown sources. I am very careful with the information I give out on the internet, but we all trust sites that we have to buy our college textbooks from like amazon, 1/2.com, etc.
Premier Readers representative gave me a call on my cell phone, and congradulated me on being a valued mastercard member, having received $1000 shopping spree. They even gave me the last four digits of my credit card and the expiration date, convincing me they were affiliated with my trusted banking branch. They went on to say that with receiving this great shopping spree, I, a valued customer, would receive a some other great gifts and offers. They put me through to the gifts department (their SECOND reliable representative) with no questions asked. This representative explained the wonderful magazine blow out they were practically giving away. She explained the payment methods, and I followed along in the process. The payment methods were spelled out in deceiving and misleading ways. They had lead me to believe I was signing up for a 2 yr. Subscription to 7 magazines that my family could share for only 24.99, then another installment in the future. I just received the first bill of 24.99 with no question of which magazines I want, and the rest of the information saying they were charging me this amount a LOT more than just once.

I am a college student, and can't afford this kind of magazine luxary, so I called the customer service rep politely to cancel my subscription. After five minutes of jabber, I interupted him and got the straight answer from him that cancelation simply was not possible. If I had known that, or how much they'd be charging me, or that they were not affiliated with my bank and weren't prooffering any of the mentioned gifts, I would not have listened to this company and hung up like I do on any other telemarketer that's not giving blood-drive or salvation army drive information.

I don't know how to get out of this scam before it gets any worse.

Can I cancel the credit card account that I gave them?
Please help.
