Miscellaneous

I signed up for a 7 day trial by asking that they send me their cd/info for $1.99 shipping charge. This was on 1-06-08. I read all the fine print and the TOS and wrote down the number that I would need to contact them all that.

This is what their site said:

QUOTE
Once your Membership request is submitted, you will receive by e-mail your Membership information which includes your Member ID and Password to use to log into GrantTeacher.com. Only one Membership per individual is allowed per year. You will initially be charged $1.99 for The Grant Teacher Kit CD and seven days of online access to GrantTeacher.com for online training, support and the latest grant information available. Following the initial seven days, you will be billed $57.31 continually every month for your Membership to The Grant Teacher to the credit card used by the Member during the sign-up process until the Member cancels the membership or makes revisions to the billing method (our Customer Service Department can be contacted at 1-801-208-7485 about revising your billing method).

Went through, entered all my information. Checked it twice before I hit submit.
Checked my email (junk folders too) about an hour later, and still no confirmation email from Grant Teacher. It was supposed to include my member ID and all that jazz. (I did this offer on a freebie incentive site, to meet qualifications)

3-4 hours later, still no email, so I go to GrantTeacher.com to see if I can find the login page in order to see if they have a function that will email you your login info, since they never sent mine. GrantTeacher.com ends up just being the initial offer page I used to sign up for this, with no members area or place to login. I thought that was a little strange.

So the next day comes along (Monday) and I still have not received any email from them. I figure I will give them 2 more days.

You guessed it, 2 more days roll around and there are still no emails from Grant Teacher. I always check my junk mail folders, because that's where most of my email goes to. I decided to call the number that they gave me. I call and receive a busy signal. Tried a couple more times, still get a busy signal.

Then the weekend rolls around, and of course nobody is there to answer the phone, but I try to call anyways. THIS time, I get a voicemail message saying they are closed, so I leave a message explaining that I hadn't received an email, etc. I left my name, phone number and all that. Mentioned that Sunday was the last day of my trial, but I hadn't been able to try anything so I would need it extended or cancelled.

Monday rolls around, and I try to call ALL day from 10am until 4pm and every single time I get a busy signal! (This was yesterday) At this point I'm extremely annoyed and figure that something isn't right. I then tried to call at about 6pm, and what do you know, no more busy signal.instead I get their voicemail saying they are closed.

This went on like this for days. Finally on 1-16-08 after sitting on hold today for about 15 minutes listening to a bad radio station... I got to talk to a customer service rep. He assured me that would not be charged, and told me that they'd been having troubles with the phones.

After I got off the phone with him, I got on my bank's website to check my account, and what do you know?! I was charged $57.31 by ELITE NREBC.

So after finding out they charged me $57.31 after they said I would NOT be charged... I called back again today. I even spoke to the same kid. (I say kid cause he sounds like he's about 17-18 years old) Today, he has a different explanation. Says that I was charged that amount for not following the terms of agreement. Without going into extreme detail, he basically changed the ToS on me and told me that I was supposed to have cancelled within 4 days in order not to be charged. I told him that it said nothing about 4 days and that I had copied all the info when I agreed to try this website.

After arguing with him for over 15 minutes, and asking him to explain to me how this was even legal, I pulled up grantteacher.com, found the terms and conditions and read them to him over the phone. Which indeed, they did NOT say anything about 4 days. They said you needed to cancel in the initial 7 day introductory period. (Which I was unable to do because of their phone system being messed up. He said they had a snow storm there which caused that.) I gave him the exact site address and told them to read them for himself. He said he pulled them up then stuttered for a second. He then told me to hang on for a second. He didn't even put me on hold! I heard a female voice in the backround, but couldn't understand anything that was being said. After a minute or two, he gets back on the phone and tells me that the terms have changed and he was not aware of that. He said he only had some paper work in front of him that explained the terms. He said his supervisor told him that they were changed and that he would issue me a refund. He said I should see it in 4-7 business days.

So I waited 7 business days to be sure, and they still have not credited me this money. I called my bank and they can't do anything over the phone, I need to go INTO the bank in order to file a dispute, and it is 30 minutes away. Hopefully I will be able to do it tomorrow.

To add to this, I tried calling the ONLY phone number (801-208-7485) and only contact information that they give you again today in order to see what was going on with the refund, and AGAIN I get a busy signal. I try 3-4 more times still busy signal. The very last time I tried I got a message saying: "You have reached Creative Edge Marketing, We are experiencing a large volume of calls, please call back again later" and then it hangs up on you! I can't believe this!

This has got to be illegal, seriously. That is the ONLY way to get ahold of them, and yet you never are actually able to get ahold of anyone at that number. Out of the 100 times I've called, I was able to speak to a live person twice and they weren't even able to help.

These guys are a fraud. I really hope I get my money back.
