Gwen Hoppe Things Remembered doesn't pay their employees!

I started working at the Northwest Arkansas Mall location about a month ago and I still have not been paid for my work! My water has been shut off, my electricity is going to be after Christmas and I am now out of food. I have not eaten a solid meal since yesterday afternoon.

Things Remembered says they pay their employees bi-weekly, most other jobs I've worked in the past have done this as well. I started working exactly two weeks before the coming paycheck, I was relying on that check to come so I could pay some utilities and buy some groceries but it never came.

My supervisor, "Bonnie, " Called our district manager Gwen Hoppe asking when it would come. She said she didn't get around to filing my paperwork until AFTER the pay period and that it would be another two weeks. I explained that this simply will not do and that it would be very easy to just fax over a check (as my other jobs have done for other employees in the past) so I could keep my water and power on, Gwen has not answered her phone since.

I asked if I could borrow some money from the petticash box and repay the full amount once the check did arrive (as I have also done with a prior job) and I was refused.

I have called Gwen as well as the head office several times now and have gotten no response. Apparently they don't realize that refusing to pay your employees is illegal. Unless I get the money I earned ASAP I'll have little choice but to remind them.
