Check for $2,900 comes in the mail with the promise of another $92,000!

I received an envelope from Toronto, Canada with no company name on it.inside was a letter from a Northwestern Valley Financial/Group of Publishers Sweepstakes, 12671 High Bluff Drive, Ste. 300, San Diego, CA stating that I had miraculously won $92,000. Also inside the envelope was a check for $2,900 drawn from a company called Hunt Valley with instructions to call Carla West at (780) 709-6302 to "activate" my check. P.S. The check looks authentic and is draw from an actual California Bank & Trust branch in San Diego. There is nothing on google with Northwestern Valley Financial or Hunt Valley. The only information on Group of Publishers pulls up similar rip off reports on this website. Moreover, the address from Hunt Valley on the check is the same address for The Vision of Children Foundation who I will be reaching out to inform them of the same. All of this notwithstanding, I phone Carla West who by the way is located in Alberta, Canada. I called at 9:00 A.M. EST and must have woke her since she sounded quite groggy. She told me that the $2,900 check was to cover the administrative and IRS related expenses for the $92,000. She went on to say that I should deposit the $2,900 and call her so that I could then send them a check for the same amount!!! They would then dispatch a special courier to hand deliver the $92,000. Still in disbelief, I called back and spoke to Linda stating that this is a scam! She became quite indignant and rude. This is a scam!!!
