Ashley Furniture Homestore delivers new Bedroom Dresser with concealed damage and shoddy attempt at repairs

Miscellaneous

I am writing about a negative shopping experience at a local retailer. The store is Ashley Furniture Homestore.

From reading other posts about them it appears that they have a habit of gluing back together the furniture they should be selling at the discount outlet mall, and delivering these 'damaged goods' as new.

About a month after we received our bedroom set I stumbled upon the hidden damage when My Wife complained about the drawers being hard to open on the dresser. I took off the back cover to have a look inside and found the slider rails very rusty and dirty and also big damage to one corner. Part of the back frame was broken apart from the back corner leg and some of the floor bottom had been busted out too. They did some very shoddy repair work to try to make it hold together and put the back cover back on and delivered to me as a new dresser.

Their repair work consisted of using an L-shaped flange screwed in with one screw on each end to hold the leg in place. For the bottom they just used a square piece of plywood to cover up the existing hole from the missing wood that was punched out.

They sent a technition out to try to fix the problem but when he saw the extent of the damage and shoddy repair work, His comments was. That is very bad and is not right that they do that. He took Pics and said His Boss was gonna be real mad when He sees this. One week went by and I had not heard from anyone.

I called the main office and they told me they were waiting on the pics from the technition because the pics was on his personal phone and he had not sent them in yet. I told Her I would take pics and send in to her, which I did.

Next day She called and said they got the pics and she showed them to her Boss and they would replace the dresser. They did that after about 4 more weeks or so.

My problem with this Company is that they knew full well that the dresser was damaged and they tried to hide the fact that it was damaged and delivered to me as if it was new and damage free. You could see that the back cover was cut out haphazardly and did not fit properly. So someone knew that it was damaged goods but they sent it to me anyway.

I have Pictures of the damage and shoddy work and will welcome the chance to show anyone that wants to see them
