Company trying to milk money out of local middle school

I'm a PTA president for a local middle school (exadv) did not know this. I met one of the 'friendly' gentlemen when they were 'marketing' and my marketing i mean walking door to door soliciting their product, in my neighborhood. They were selling cards with a certain sports team.

Our school was looking for a fundraiser at the time and I suggested to the men to come back at a later time and I would purchase more of them. I then contacted the company and requested a certain number of tickets and if I could get them at a discounted price therefore making a profit for the schools PTA. The company said it was fine and had the kids drop the tickets off at the school.

Fundraiser was a disaster and didn't make any money off of it so I returned the tickets. Weeks after returning the tickets the manager calls and says that they gave me more tickets than I returned and that I owed them close to 2500 PLUS they wanted the original asking price instead of the discounted price we had agreed upon.

In the end my PTA is out 5000 because my administration was tired of dealing with the manager. He called my cell phone about 10 times a day and started harrassing my administration saying that they would get lawyers involved and call collectors to get their money.

Someone needs to stand up to these people, I've talked to numerous people around the neighborhood and even ran into a few people after telling my story that this exact thing has happened to them. I've called the better business bureau and filed a complaint as well.
