Used similtaneous enrollment to 'protect' my purchase Ripoff Web-based Conneticut

Miscellaneous

I was auditing my bank statement today when I saw a strange purchase for $10.00 that was deducted from my account. I've been the victim of credit card fraud before, so unfortunately I know the process. I called the 800 number provided on the statement and spoke to a very helpful girl in customer service. She said I had made a purchase on a website called marketworks.com and as part of my purchase, had been simitaneously enrolled in their plan.

She said that there was no additional offer screen, but that I had entered my e-mail address twice indicating acceptance of the plan.

Firstly, I don't recognize the website, nor did a purchase under that site appear on my past bank statements for the last 6 months (while I've been billed for this 'service' for the past two months). Secondly, the e-mail address they said I used to accept is under my maiden name and I've been married for three years now. I just don't use it anymore.

I think I've been scammed big time. I'm not sure who sold my credit card information, but I've already spoken to my bank to file a claim.

Be wary of anything you do on the internet is the lesson to be learned from them. This company does not operate as a solo venture. They use tactics to 'protect' your purchases on a variety of websites if all the claims I've read are true.
