Big time rip off artists! Big time rip off artists! Slicksters, sneaky and fraudulent billing methods

On 6/1/07, I paid my monthly online credit card payment to Orchard and it stated that although I was making a payment on today it would not credit my account until Monday which meant I would be charged a late fee of $30. (Although my due date is on a Sunday, 6/3/07). This makes no sense to have due dates on weekends.

I contacted customer service and had a long unfriendly conversation with the representative who was obviously programmed through massive training to speak "strictly what's best for the company, not the consumer". He even went as far as to agree that I was correct in saying the company was only concerned about themselves profiting not the customer.

I explained to him that this was an unethical billing practice because Friday is considered a business day at least until 4pm or 5pm and payments should post on this day or Saturday not Monday which would generate late fees for most customers. I also told him that it was unfair for someone who paid on Thursday to have until Saturday to receive credit, but not use the same method of practice for payments made on Friday.

I explained that I would like to close my account line and continue to pay the balance because I obviously was misled to believe that this was a reputable company. He explained there penalties involved called a "maintenance fee" applied each month to my account because of this request. I laughed and told him this was the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. He explained it was in the agreement. I told him I didn't care what was in your company's agreement it does mean it is ethical or legitimate to treat customers in this fraudulent manner.

I recommend not using this company by no means because the openly admit not benefitting the consumer but themselves.
