Puppy MIll Diana Kram sells sick puppies! Ripoff

On January 15 we arrived at Diana Kram's house to purchase a puppy so our other yorkie would have a brother or sister. Our other yorkie, Bella, is up to date on all of her vaccinations and we wanted to see how she interacted with the new puppy we were going to purchase.

Upon seeing Bella (which we were holding) Diana asked us to take the dog out of her house. We did so without objection. We went downstairs to her finished basement where there were 5-6 dogs that were free to run around. We noticed the dogs urinating and then the other dogs would lick it up. I told Diana the dogs were going to the bathroom and she didn't do anything to clean it up. There was feces on the floor throughout the finished basement.

Diana went into a back room and brought out 2 puppies. Both puppies were covered in urine and feces. The stench of the house was unbearable. We asked Diana to see the room where the puppies came from and she told us we could make the puppies sick and that she would not allow us back there. We decided to purchase the puppy because we wanted to save it from the conditions he was living in.

We left Diana's house and before we got to the end of the driveway the puppy, Braxton, had already vomited and had diarrhea. We stopped at the first store and bought supplies to clean up the mess and the smell. Braxton continued to get sick. When we got home we gave him a bath to clean the feces and urine off of him.in the morning Braxton vomited again and had diarrhea with a large amount of blood.

We immediately called the veterinarian and was able to be seen right away. We discussed the unsanitary conditions Braxton came from and the causes for his illness. Braxton tested positive for Giardia, a very contagious parasite only transferred through feces. Braxton's test results came back with the highest amount of the parasite that was tested for. Our veterinarian told us Braxton has had Giarda for some length of time based on the high rate of the parasite. Giardia is also transferable to people. We immediately started treating both Braxton and Bella.

We treated Bella (the vet also dewormed her and gave her the same medicine as Braxton) because she was exposed to Braxton and it was a responsible health conscious decision that we were advised to do by our veterinarian. Bella's tests ultimately came back negative.

I called Diana Kram the following day after purchase to inform her of our veterinarian visit. She accused me of overstressing the dog and that in fact I was responsible for his condition. She also placed the blame of the disease on our other dog, Bella. She told me Braxton just needed something to soothe his stomach and that he didn't need to be treated by a veterinarian. We asked for reimbursement of the vet bills, to which she adamantly refused. Braxton also came to us with a urninary tract infection.

My correspondence with Diana Kram has included several harrasing phone calls from her. Below is an example of a response from her. She is impossible to work with and should not be in business.

Diana's Response: Further information for you:

I had the puppies which where with the male you purchased tested and all came out negative. Therefore, it truly seems that he contracted this from your other dog, which you tried to bring into my home.

Seems funny that your vet had to deworm your other dog as well.

All my puppies reported very clean of parasites. Gee, seems you are trying to get something for nothing. Sorry, but I am not falling for it.

Also, why did you go back and get the Nutri Cal, why didn't your vet recommend it?

Not only did they not recommend it they over charged you unbelievably.

You can purchase it in a pet store for about $4.50.
