I rented a condo from this couple On Nov. 15th 2006. I had taken there condo, instead of the one that was $300.00 dollars cheaper in the same building, because they had seemed like a very nice couple, they also stated to me that they had held church classes in ther home every Tuesday. So I thought they are good people.

BOY WAS I WRONG! I moved in on the 15th, I met with Arthur to sign the lease that morning, and we did a walk through of the condo. I was handed the keys and that was it. I moved in.

I was not given a copy of the original lease there was no copy machine around and I was okay with that because as I stated before I trusted them and felt I could trust that they would not do anything to the lease. I even made the comment to Arthur It is okay I trust you.

About 2 weeks later I received a phone call from his wife Heather who stated to me that they had come by the condo to pick up their mail, and to leave a copy of the lease for me. I arrived home to get the lease on the door along with a note that stated I owed them money from the 15th of Nov. Thru the 31st of Nov. Now I never was informed of this prior nor was it mentioned when I signed the lease.

When I was reading the lease they had added on a total of $960.00 to the ALREADY signed lease. I called them and informed them that I did not agree to pay that when I had moved in and that they are not allowed to amend a lease with out my consent. I was told that they could do whatever they wanted to do.

I refused to pay the added on amount, and in Dec. On the 4th of I received a 3 day notice to pay rent or quit. I explained to them again that I was not paying for something I did not agree too in the first place, and was told too bad.

Within a week I was served with court papers to evict me for the amount that they had lied about on the lease. I was served on a Thursday, and in California I have 5 days to respond to the papers. On Sunday of that same week I was served again with the official eviction papers. I was not able to respond.

I was told to be out on the 10th of January. I tried to call an attorney to see if I could get help and was told no, I was screwed.

So they totally lied to me, they altered a contract and my kids and I were homeless for 2 weeks until I was able to find another place. I am not sure if they understand what they did to my credit and my life when they decided to lie. I wanted to believe in someone that believed in the lord and took their lives very seriously. I will never do that again

Then after I had to move I was not able to get all of my things out of the condo, so I had to leave alot of things behind. I tried to contact them many times to remove them, and they were never available. When I did finally reach them I was told that I wasn't going to be able to get the things because they felt I should only have 15 days to remove the items. Since they stated it was in the lease. IT WASN"T at least not on the copy I had in hand.

I reminded them the state of california laws and how I leagally had 30 days to remove my things. Well after much argument I managed to get my things.

I hope that anyone that rents from them next knows not to trust them and not to let them walk out of the house without giving you a copy of the lease, they will change ot. And they will try and screw you.
