SSA ripoff, fraudulant collection billing, dishonest

Tonight some girl comes knocking on my door, doesn't look like one of my neighbors so I open it to see what she needs. She goes on with this story about how she has to meet 100 people today and she needs points to win a trip somewhere. Then she goes on telling me how she is selling magazines and I think great, I needed to order one for my boyfriend anyways. I let her in and she seems a little strange so I look over the information and give her a check for one subscription. I get a very uneasy feeling and go online to check out the company.

Sure enough, their name is all over with the words ripoff and scam beside it. I am sending a letter with a delivery confirmation and making a copy of the letter I am sending out on Monday. I told them I would get a lawyer if my credit was damaged and I put a stop payment on the check. It was 30 but I'd rather give 30 to my bank than 40 to a scam. I drove through the neighborhood to see if I saw her but I didn't. I am also going to change my bank account information since she has a check with all of my information on it. Not sure if anyone has every recieved a subscription, so far it looks as though they're just a scam. I thought I would try to be helpful through the holidays but this will teach my to just keep my door shut and donate to organizations I trust. Happy Holidays!!!
