Misleading phone call, rude employees ripoff Largo Florida

This outfit called me this morning and hung up after three rings, so I hit redial on my cell phone to see who they were. The gentleman who answered said 'Capital Financial' and told me I was 'pre-approved' for a credit card with a $1500.00 credit limit, and said they would mail it to me.

Upon verification of my address, he then asked for my checking account info, 'just to confirm you have a valid bank account.'

When I informed him I don't give that information over the phone, especially to someone who called me unsolicited, he said 'Have a good day' and hung up.

I was curious and called back, and a different, much ruder, guy answered. I asked him if I could use the card at any store, and his response was basically no, that with my credit history they'd have to be stupid to issue me an unsecured card, but that I could use their card as a 'Merchant Card.' I asked what that meant, exactly, already knowing, and he accused me of trying to confuse him. Then he hung up while I was still replying to that.

Now I was pissed, and called again to complain. This time the guy was much nicer, and explained that I could use their card in three ways: online, thru their catalog, or by calling their customer service # and requesting a cash advance. He also, upon my asking, confirmed that not everyone gets $1500.00, some credit limits are lower. I asked for the website and was given 'www.capitalfinancialcard.com', which took me to their online catalog.

None of the people I spoke with ever mentioned a $200.00 fee.

I am thankful that I didn't give these bozos any info, and I wanted to share my experience so others don't fall for their line of BS.
