United Marketing Association
Ripoff, lied

Miscellaneous

I received a phone call from a company called United Marketing Association in Las Vegas, Nevada. Right away, the lady told me that I won a trip to Venice, Italy. And I also won $25,000, and a BMW. But I had to subscribe to Time Magazine and a couple of other magazines. And if I did subscribe I would receive a free diamond bracelet or watch in the mail.

I don't remember her name, but after awhile she transferred me to her supervisor named Claire. I know that these names are probably all fake anyway. This lady Claire asked me to give her my credit card number. I didn't know what to do because I've never been in this situation before. I just turned 20 and this is my first credit card.

So, I ended up giving her my credit card. After awhile, my mom got on the phone because she had a feeling this was all a scam. But Claire just told her I was subscribing to a couple of magazines and she could only talk to me. And what was really strange was that she had me on a recording saying that the amount I would have to pay would be $62.40 and that I would have 6 issues for 16 months.

Then afterwards, she transferred me to another guy who had me repeating the same things on a recording. I tried to get out of the whole situation, so I just hung up on him. But he called me right back and we had to go throught that whole process once more. All of those people kept telling me that we would only be a couple of minutes, but it was much longer. But after I finally hung up with that guy, another guy called me back to make sure he had all the correct information he needed. Of course, afterwards I wish I would have listened to my mom and just hung up in the very beginning with that girl.

I was really suspicious afterwards, so I got online and went on - and typed in "United Marketing Association". And what came up was a headline of a rip-off diamond watch and that they lie and harrass people. So right away I called my credit card company and canceled my card. I even tried to call the company back but, of course, it didn't go through. So, I don't even know if the number or address I filled in the blank would be of any help. I would just like to get these people arrested or maybe even bring them to court because I am just so furious!!
