Deadbeat Dad's and Mom's, stupid laws & Ignorant Bureaucrats

In New York State, You have to give the DMV your SS# to keep on file so that IF your ever owing child support they can take your license to drive away. One problem though, IT doesn't work the way they thought it would. MY case and complaint is, I was stopped at a random DWI checkpoint, as I don't drink I didn't care anyway, until the trooper came back and said I was under arrest for driving on a revoked driver's license.

I was cuffed and taken to jail. Arraigned that night and posted a $5,000 cash bail. They didn't check it out with DMV at all, Seems that someone with a SS# similar to mine was a deadbeat dad and owed $5,000.00 to his ex-spouse for child support. MY only child is 31 years old and has children of her own, When I went to DMV I was told that the support had been paid thru the court and that MY bail was used to pay this woman. It took me 3 months of BS to straighten this all out, then the court said that I would have to sue the woman that got MY money, in court to get my bail back. What a farce this was.

My Attorney went to an appeals court and the Town court was directed to pay me MY bail money with interest and that they would have to "sue" the woman to get the money back. I feel sorry for the woman but, IT's not my problem, At my attorney's insistance, I also received a letter from the DMV that states that on such and such a date My license was revoked by mistake, IN case I am stopped and have to go thru this BS all over again. I have never been a Deadbeat dad, and will never be a deadbeat Gwampa either LOL: o)
