Deceptive and Dishonest Dentist Destroyed Dad

Dearest Usa Consumer Complaints.com and fellow rip-off followers, it seems this forum is my family's final destination. All [affordable] legal avenues in this matter have been exhausted. I turn to you, friends, for advice and support.

My Dad is a good man and always willing to help those who need help. Such was the case a few years ago when he took out a loan for his friend, a dentist, Dr. Thomas Maienschein. The loan was taken out for Dr. Maienschein in order to pay for his taxes and/or other financial obligations.

In good faith my Dad and Dr. Maienschein agreed the loan would be paid within the loan terms. The loan term matured and Dr. Maienschein's loan payment to my Dad didn't happen.

These things happen, my Dad is an understanding guy. For fear his own credit would be tarnished, my Dad started making payments. Still nothing from Dr. Maienschein.

This wouldn't be a problem with the tiny exception that my Dad has his own financial obligations - such as life is. After pleading with Dr. Maienschein and his wife, Norma Maienschein, a handful of tiny payments have been paid.

My Dad is out of money. His property taxes are due and he is unable to pay for them. My family has gone to Dr. Maienschein and his wife asking for just enough money to pay the taxes. Their mantra has been, "There's nothing you can do about it."

My sister, who works in the financial industry, has gone to Dr. Maienschein and offered viable options for repaying the loan. Dr. Maienschein refuses.

Are they right? Is there really "nothing we can do about it?" Dr. Maienschein operates a successful dentist office in a suburb of Kansas City. Is my Dad, my family, really stuck with this enormous financial burden?

I'd like to think not.

If anyone has suggestions on how my family can resolve this matter please respond.

I know being a nice guy doesn't get you as far as it used to. Maybe if someone reading this is considering helping out a friend they will think twice. It's pretty sad we have to live in a world like this.
