American Family Home Insurance Company
American Modern Insurance, Mold They didn't cover any mold damage and I had the coverage

Miscellaneous

I had a 1987 Redman Danville singlewide with an expando. During the month of Feb. my dog was running around my diningroom table and crashed into the wall and the wall crumbled. When it did, I saw black mold on the pieces of drywall. Then in my livingroom behind my desk (that had not been moved in over a year), I saw that wall crumbling and more mold. I filed a claim through my insurance company after I had read over my insurance coverage. The adjuster came to my home and touched the wall in my diningroom and it broke in her hand. Then she did a walk around the outside of the mobile home and on the roof and came to the conclusion that the screw holes that were in the siding from flower boxes that I had removed from the siding 7 years ago when I had moved in were the cause of the mold and she denied the claim right on the spot. (The previous family had put those flower boxes there and I had removed them.) I tried for 4 days to get a hold a of a supervisor of the insurace company and when I did, he told me on the phone that his decision had been made based on what the adjuster had already found and he was not coming to my home.

I then called the health dept. And they said that don't come to residential homes. (I thought that is what they did.)

I then called the township and they told me the same thing, they don't come to residential homes.

I have also written a letter the the Environmental Protection Agency with no response.

I have wrote to the Attorney Generals office for the state of Michigan with no response. I have called twice to the Insurance Commissioners office for the state of Michigan and I am still waiting for a response there.

I have called every mold remedition company in the yellow pages to see what they have to say and I have been told that if I want to pay a couple hundred dollars just for them to come to the home to tell me I have mold and then another couple hundred dollars to have them send a sample to their lab.

As a single mother with two children I just don't have that kind of money to be spending for someone to tell me I have mold!

After I felt I have exhausted all avenues on this, I chose to have the mobile home torn down since the cost to fix the home is more than the value of the home. So, on March 23rd the mobile home was demolished. Unfortunally I still have to pay the mortgage on the home even though my children and I are now out of a home.

Can anyone help me go after the insurance company and make them pay for this?
