Hello, I'm writing concerning the "America's Choice Readers Service". My Son was conned into a "great deal" (scoff!) with this company. They told him it had to be done through his credit card, keep in mind... THEY called him. They promised him a valuable watch as a gift for his subscription purchase & also told him he could cancel within a certain time. He never received his valuable watch & when he called about it, they made excuses, but assured him it would be sent. After months of waiting he called several times about the watch then told them to cancel his subscription because he was tired of getting the run-around and no watch. He spoke with a woman there who told him if he paid that months payment he wouldn't have to pay the remaining balance. He did what was requested but they continued to bill his credit card. After another phone call, they told him he was under a verbal agreement and could not cancel. I called them myself after my son started getting worried about how this would affect his credit. When I spoke with the 'gentleman' he was rude & forceful, tried to intimidate me, claiming he had a recorded conversation of my son's agreement, which I never heard. The man threatened to sue, I told him go ahead, his company was the one who broke the agreement. After my son canceled his credit card, they continue to send bills & threatening notes, but we don't reply. They sent a collectors notice & my husband called the collectors several times (CRC-Great Falls, MT, PO Box 1701, Great Falls, MT 59403, phone: 1-877-453-5699) but he kept getting a recording asking to leave a phone number & they will get back to you. I have two other addresses connected with them, one called Synergy Credit Services, PO BOX 2231, Great Falls, Montana 59403-2231, phone: 1-800-734-5408; and ("A Licensed Collection Agency") CRC-Great Falls, MT, PO BOX 1701, Great Falls, MT 59403, phone: 1-877-453-5699. Their Website has an e-mail you can write: feedback@americanreader.com (we haven't bothered) and another phone number for memebers: 1-800-288-4941 (haven't bothered with that one either) The "America's Choice Readers Service" is run by liars, tricksters, slippery slugs preying on those who are gullible.

I offer this advice, if any company calls you with offers for magazines hang up, you can get these special offers through local school fund raisers or through the magazine company first hand. If the company will not accept your personal check for payment, don't deal with them; Get an answering machine & screen your calls, most of the time, if they are legit they will leave a message & phone number. If they ask for any personal & important info hang up... If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is bad news.
