Ripoff car damaged by towing company refused to pay for the damage

Single person with two cars, who drove one primarily and left one parked most of the time. I was told, at the time of being sold on renting from them, that that would be no problem.

Notice stuck on car that it was scheduled for towing, but, the "when" was very vague. Saw notice as I was leaving for work. Tried to start car, but, battery died. I thought that I could work on the car that evening and the next day as it was a Saturday. When I got home from work, the car had been towed.

The notice indicated that "they would not be responsible for any damage." Spent $26.00 to take a taxi to the towing lot. Spent $137.00 to replace piece of frame under right rear of car damaged by the towing. Spent $80.00 to retrieve car from towing company.

Victoria Park has a habit of giving less than 24 hours notice to move your car for tree cutting work. They say, in their notices, that your car "could be damaged." If it is not moved, the cars are towed, BUT, they are not responsible for any damage that may result!

I believe that such short notice to move a car is unconscionable and in bad faith. If a tenant was out of town for business for just two days, that car would be towed and damage, like the damage my car incurred, could result.

The response from the management, "That's all the time the law requires."

I believe that the management knows well in advance when they are going to tow cars for any reason, or need them moved for tree triming, but, are either too lazy to put the notices out at a reasonable time in advance of such action, or simply enjoy possessing such unbridled power over their tenants.
